While many vapes create a very recognizable cannabis smell, others are more discreet, which is a potential benefit for vape users. Additionally, some vapes are flavored, so if you are the type of person who does not like the terpene-heavy taste of cannabis, you can opt for a different experience. Terpenes derived from other plants and fruits provide a sweeter or fruity flavor.
Vapes are extremely straightforward machines and, for the most part, easy to use. They come in several forms: disposables with battery attached as an all-in-one unit that is thrown away after the liquid is depleted; or a disposable cartridge (battery not included) that is replaced after the concentrate is gone. The primary components you interact with on each vape device are the mouthpiece, the heating elements, the charging port, and the buttons. Some vapes have different variables you can manipulate, such as air flow or temperature settings, which usually require additional buttons.
Different temperature settings release different levels of terpenes in the cannabis so you can get the maximal flavor and aroma that you want.
Finally, the mouthpiece works exactly as you would expect it to — this is where you inhale your cannabis for consumption. Many vapes begin heating as soon as they sense you inhaling, while others require you to press the button to begin the heating process.
The closest approximation to vaping would be smoking, and one of the biggest upsides to vaping over using loose flower is convenience. Vaping does not require you to measure out and combust flower — the cannabis product inside is already measured out and works with a touch of a button. A comparable experience might be cannabis prerolls; all the fun with none of the work!
